As the holiday season approaches, social calendars will be filled with holiday brunches, evening drinks and other festive activities.  It is important to ensure that you are legal when it comes to enjoying your favourite holiday cocktail.  Most of you already know that a liquor licence is a UAE requirement when purchasing alcohol.  Oh sure, there are always a few who find a way to purchase alcohol without a licence but I have to ask -Why risk it?  So before you start pinning your favourite drink recipes, make sure you have that license.  Applying for a liquor licence has never been quicker or easier – and its completely FREE!  Plus our favourite beverage outlet Spinneys is here to help.

Step 1:  Collect the necessary documents.

  • A digital passport picture
  • Scanned copy of your Emirates ID and Passport with Visa page
  • Scanned copy of your salary letter

Living as an expat we should be use to the  frequent request of these forms. Hopefully for you, these documents are only a click away.

Step 2:  Go to the Special Licence Office website at www.auhsl.ae.  Complete the online application.  It takes about 15 minutes to enter in all the information requested. You can select any Spinneys outlet to collect your licence from.  Once complete, you will receive your application number.

Step 3:  Collect your licence.  You will receive an email advising you that your license is ready for collection.
