Recently I headed back to one of my favourite places – Silkor.  This time I thought I would give the VelaShape II a try.  Now usually I am not a fan of slimming machines, but I am a fan of trying anything that could help me look better.  When it comes to slimming, I am of the mind set that you need to reduce sugar and work out hard. However, after hitting the gym these past few months I still have problem areas that could use a little bit of  help.  Long gone are the days when all it took to was skipping a meal to lose a few pounds.

What is VelaShape II?  It is a non-invasive solution to reduce the appearance of cellulite. It is a vacuum designed to massage the targeted area, incorporating infrared light and radio frequency which will heat the tissue underneath. The goal is to make your skin look more smooth and less bumpy.  The process does not hurt.  It just feels like a warm vacuum massager is going over your skin. The most popular spot to have this sort of treatment is the belly and upper arms. Perfect for post baby treatment, we decided to do my stomach and back area. For the best results, you need to take a course of treatments depending on your needs and goals. When you meet with an advisor, they will review your diet and give exercise advice.  With any sort of slimming program you will need to watch what you eat.  You can’t be hitting up Cheesecake Factory then expect this machine to make you slim.  It doesn’t work that way.  This is not a one-time solution to getting slim.  You need to make lifestyle changes in diet and exercise whilst following a course of treatments.

Real Housewives SilkorMy VelaShape II treatment was combined with Pressotherapy.  I wasn’t sure what to expect with the Pressotherapy, as you are put into a suit and told to relax.  The suit fills up with air, compressing your body.  It fills up, then decompresses.  As it fills up more and more you start to hear the velcro of the suit expanding.  Right when you think the suit is going to burst, all the air rushes out. This repeats for about 20 minutes.  It is a weird sensation, but oddly relaxing.  So relaxing I actually dozed off during the treatment.  Afterwards I felt refreshed.  This treatment is designed to increase the lymphatic flow, detoxify, relieve pain, reduce swelling.  This sort of treatment is great for those who find themselves feeling bloated or having water retention.

Would I get this VelaShape II package? After the treatments I did feel skinnier (even though the therapist warned I may not see any improvement after just one treatment). If you are already in an exercise program, this sort of treatment is great for making that one troublesome area look better.  However if making your way around the grocery store on a weekly basis is the only exercise you do (which does count as exercise – especially if you have small kids with you), then it would benefit you to use these slimming treatments as a start to your program. A stepping stone to a healthier lifestyle. I used to be skeptical of these sort of treatments but I have known women who were completely unfit and started this sort of slimming program which led to a more active lifestyle.

Silkor has so many treatments for women these days.  It used to be the place for just laser hair removal but now with so many different treatments available it can be your “go to” place for your beauty needs.  There are a variety of different facials (remember I went for the Kenzi facial a few months back.  Still one of the best facials I have had!), various aesthetics services (botox, fillers, etc) and a selection of slimming treatments: body wraps, firming wraps, mesotherapy, electrotherapy, and many more.  For more information take a look at the Silkor website, but also book an appointment.  For any of the slimming treatments, you will have a free consultation.  Silkor is currently having a promotion on all slimming treatments for the month of December, so call today.
