Once great thing about living in the Middle East is all the fantastic food. Abu Dhabi is such a mixture of culture, but there is one dish that everyone is familiar with and that is hummus. This side dish is extremely easy to make, and can be personalized to suit every taste bud. It is most popularly served with pita bread but can be served whatever you like such as with carrots and cucumber.
Hummus is a nutritious snack that is high in iron, vitamin C and B, and protein. Because fresh hummus is available in the shops, I must admit I have never made my own hummus until I tried this recipe. Last summer on a trip back home, the only hummus available was pre-packaged flavored (who know’s what they put in it) hummus. It just didn’t seem right to eat it and it lacked the natural taste. You will see, this recipe is easy to follow and modify. I want to learn how to make this simple dishes so that when the day comes that I go home, I will know how to recreate the tastes of the Middle East.
