Recently the Housewives came together to listen to cancer survivor Laurie Nelson talk about her journey. The event was set on the beautiful terrace of Vasco’s located at the Hiltonia Beach Club over looking the beach and sea. The Hilton spoiled us with a beautiful pink spread done in support of Pink October. The setting was stunning.
As busy moms and housewives, we could all relate to that feeling of not properly taking care of ourselves because we put our families first. This is what happened to Laurie. She was so busy with her family, that when she initially fell sick she delayed visiting the doctor. Imagine her surprise when she was told she had brain cancer. Can you imagine being told you only have a limited time to live? When you are faced with this life altering obstacle, you make changes in your life. She refused to believe this was how her story was going to end. Her journey of recovery is an inspiration for all. She now gives HOPE to all; focusing on those struggling with cancer. You can read about her journey in her book When Gray Becomes a Primary Color.
We had amazing support from our raffle sponsors and were able to raise 1500 AED which will go towards buying teddy bears for children with cancer. A big THANK YOU to Hilton Abu Dhabi who completely sponsored the event and gave raffle prizes. Our other raffle sponsors: Hallabolou, Smallprint, Once Upon A Tea Time, Escape Events, My First Avon Make Up Party and Le Meridien Craft and Farmers Market.
