Whilst the RHWAD did not host any events in the month of February, we did stay busy attending all the exciting events going on around town.

Here is a round up of our favorites:

Fashion at the Westin

RHWAD fashion westin 1This proved to be an incredible evening.   Organizer Jean Maguire from Image Events put together an entertaining evening of fashion and shopping. Upon arrival the attendees enjoyed a beautiful wine and cheese reception in the elegant wing of the banquet hall. The ladies could then enter the ballroom to browse the various exhibitors on hand.

There were some familiar exhibitors and some new. One of the most popular was Mini Genie Cakes. She had put out some delicious samples of her beautifully decorated cakes. Issara Fashions were also on hand with a lovely selection of handbags, scarves and jewelry. My personal favorite of the night was the sports wear by LornaJane. I hadn’t heard of the brand before except one of my girlfriends was raving about the brand. Such stylish fitness clothes! Being 6 months pregnant most of the clothes would not fit, but it is a good motivator for after baby comes.

RHWAD Fashion Westin 2Best advice from the night came from style icon Celia Holman Lee. When it comes to posture it should be ears over shoulder and shoulders over hips to ensure that you stand up straight. When posing for a photo, drop hip to side, hands on waist and not on hip. Since hearing this advice I have found that it works! It feels a bit funny at first when posing for a picture but honestly you do look better in pictures.

Overall the event was mahvelous! We will keep our eye out for future Image Events.

Business in Heels (Soft Launch)

Organizers Natalie Arancio and Kristin Sims hosted the lovely evening of networking at the St. Regis bar in Abu Dhabi. First of all, what a luxurious venue!  It was a great opportunity to see how fantastic this new hotel is.

It had been a long time since I attended an event solely for the purpose of networking. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and I already knew a few of the women attending – which always makes attending a little bit easier.   It turns out it would not have matter if my friends were there or not. We split up right away. Everyone was super friendly and approachable which made it  so easy to talk to anyone.

Finding out a little bit more about the origin of Business in Heels I was so impressed that the group has started only about 18 months ago in Sydney. Since then, various branches around the world had started and was now launching here in Abu Dhabi.

I personally love Business in Heels because it is specifically created for women to mingle, socialize and have fun. Whenever you have women making these connections, there is something positive is bound to come from that.  You will leave the event with a handful of new contacts, a fabulous swag bag, but most importantly you will leave feeling inspired and motivated.

Please take a look at their Business in Heels Abu Dhabi group page to ensure that you don’t miss the next event.

Unknown-3MOMS GUIDE – Mommy and Me Breakfast

After several months of seeing the events on Meetup.com, I was finally able to attend one of the Moms Guide events. It was a breakfast held at Al Fanr on Saadiyat Island. The weather in February is gorgeous, so eating outside in the beautiful setting only makes one feel blessed to live in Abu Dhabi.

Esraa, the host and founder of Moms Guide was so warm and welcoming. I arrived with my little girl but I didn’t feel uncomfortable at all not knowing anyone upon arrival. The other moms I met at the event were also so friendly.

What I liked about this event was that we actually had a group discussion about the various places to live in and around Abu Dhabi.   As you know with little ones around a discussion is not always so easy. The children cooperated and we were able to discuss and learn more about the various places to live in and around Abu Dhabi.

Moms Guide always have so much going on for mothers in the capital. Take a look at the Moms Guide Abu Dhabi website.  I hope I can make it to the next event.
