
Meet Jane, the founder of Abu Dhabi’s Yalla magazine, “The Know It All Family Guide To Abu Dhabi.” Yalla provides a myriad of information from as simple as where to find a ballet class for the budding ballerina to details on the heritage and culture of Abu Dhabi.
The best part of Yalla is it is free! This month the 3rd edition was published with the 4th edition scheduled to be published in April. Describe yourself in three words
Carpe Diem, honest and positive
What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
I have a background in Marketing and have been involved in a number of product launches and new companies so the achievement has been seen through the success after launch when you know you achieved your objectives, or the new company I was part of became successful, hence I find myself setting up a new business now, there is great synergy with my professional background
Do you have children and have they influenced your career?
I have 3 children and because of them they drive me to want to succeed in my career
How do you stay connected through social media?
I am a new ‘kid on the block’ when it comes to social media but I do manage to stay connected with friends far away through Facebook
What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
I always wanted to be a travel presenter – I thought they had the best job in the world traveling and discovering new places!
What are you top three favorite places in Abu Dhabi?
Saadiyat Beach, Some of the small cafes and galleries, being on the water!
What is your goal for retirement?
My retirement – I dream of being somewhere in Italy or Greece close to the sea and among the olive groves!
Do you have any advice for women who would like to start their own company in Abu Dhabi?
Advice for setting up a business – Have a thorough business plan and understand your model, be positive and determined, don’t be afraid to get things wrong and enjoy what you do.
